Get To Know Me

Mac McMillan, MDiv., CCPA

I am a non-certified Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and located in Kimberley, BC.

I offer individual, couples and family counselling in-person or by phone or secure

video.  I have over 30 years experience helping people overcome addictive thinking

and behaviour, strengthen relationships, and work through issues such

as anxiety, depression, trauma and grief.  I like to give people practical steps and

exercises they can do to heal, learn and grow emotionally, mentally and relationally.

I have developed six ways to increase self-respect, which I feel is the bases of

healthy thinking and relating.  I have also uncovered four steps to healing the past,

which allows clients to move forward with more peace and joy in their lives and

relationships. In order to accomplish all this, I utilize the strengths and insights of

each client, while employing approaches of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),

Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy for couples (EFT), Solution Focused

Therapy and Pastoral Counselling when applicable.  Many clients have remarked that

my empathy, insights and practical guidance has been instrumental in changing

their lives.

During the last 30 years, I have counselled people in the Yukon, BC, Alberta,

Saskatchewan, Asia and Nunavut.  I have worked in non-profit societies, private

practice and government.  I have a special place in my heart for the aboriginal

peoples of Canada and have assisted many in their journey to heal from significant

trauma and abuse.  While overseas, I have facilitated small group seminars such as,

“Understanding people and problems” and “The enemies and allies of the soul”.  I have

also taught English, math, Phys. Ed, and public speaking in Thailand and China.
